exponenential tarification policy and customer care

A small skype story:

A few days ago my subscription was canceled because my credit card was hacked (payment was not accepted), it was of course not intentional. Skype decided to cancel the subscription instead of asking for a valid payment first.

I quickly realized why Skype does it that way:

I used to pay (all tax inlcuded) 9.72 Euros for 3 months with on-line number included.
Now, even with the 50% rebate on on-line number, the bill is best case with a 12-month on-line number subscription:
12,94 + (29,90/4) = 20,41 Euros for 3 months, which is over 100% inflation for the same service, just because Skype decided to cut my connection...

I am really badly surprised by the way Skype treats their early adopters customers.
From now on, I will do my best to refrain people from using skype and encourage them to go for alternative solutions.
